Our Work
Here are a few moments that we were able to record as a result of our Team’s dedication to going to locations that looked inaccessible and helping individuals in need.
KOKO, DELTA STATE
After visiting Koko, in the summer of 2023, I became moved to add my effort to alleviate
the poverty and suffering amongst the children especially orphans and destitute
children. Koko is a small town in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State
Nigeria, situated about fifteen miles off the Benin- Sapele road. The population of the
town is estimated to be 19,994 according to an article by the Encyclopedia Britannica
but an article by Citi-Facts.com reported a population decrease of -47% from year 2000
to 2015.
Conversations with some residents of the town revealed that the younger population
leave to seek greener pastures from the more prosperous towns around or wherever
such journeys take them. Unfortunately, most of them do not return. They leave their
families (mostly just children) to the care of their aged parents. Some have died leaving
their wards destitute and technically orphans.
In 1988, it was discovered that the town was one of several West African ports being
used to dump toxic waste by foreign brokers, (Wikipedia). This has not made situations
better, rather, it is stated that the Koko community has not recovered from the incident.
Moved with compassion, I gave out food and clothing to as many as I could with the
little resource I could muster.
On getting back home to the US, I made a resolve to do something to help alleviate the
situation of the children. Restorers Haven was registered in the State of Maryland to
reach out to the underprivileged in our communities; the orphans and destitute children
of Koko has been identified as one of such communities.
Our program for the first quarter of the year is to provide safe housing for the children in
Koko. To this end, we have identified some rental properties in Koko that we aim to
furnish for the children.
Food distribution and Custom made clothes for Easter 2024
As part of our commitment to fostering community well-being, we performed a Food Distribution and Custom-Made Clothes initiative for Easter 2024. This program aimed to provide nutritious meals and beautifully crafted garments to families in need, ensuring that everyone celebrated this special holiday with dignity and joy. Our dedicated team of volunteers worked tirelessly to gather food donations and create custom outfits tailored to the unique preferences of each child. By combining nourishment with the gift of clothing, we uplifted spirits and strengthened community bonds during this festive season. Join us in making a meaningful difference—together, we can spread hope and joy this Christmas!
Readers Are Leaders.
I was excited to deliver the books in the photo to Deaconess Roli Ede yesterday! The books are being taken to Nigeria to benefit young orphans. Deaconess Roli, in her retirement, set up Restorers Haven whose mission “is to provide food, clothing, educational materials and shelter to orphans who are in need of such basic assistance”. Her organization has helped many such children in the short time since its inception.

The Christmas Feeding Outreach
Although December is a time of excitement and hope, many children are dreaming of receiving food gifts instead of electronics, computer games, or new bicycles. We are a community, and while many of us are fortunate to live in abundance, there are a great deal of people who are not. If Covid-19 has taught us anything, it is the value of sharing and caring for one another.
We came up with a method to give and receive food over the holiday season with love. Our group set out to fill a pot with enough food to serve a hundred kids.

Homelessness In Nigeria.
Nigeria currently has one of the largest homeless populations in the entire world. The reasons for this are numerous and complex, but there are many solutions to rectify the situation. This article presents 10 important facts concerning the issue of homelessness in Nigeria.
10 Facts About Homelessness in Nigeria
- Approximately 24.4 million homeless people live in Nigeria. This accounts for roughly 13 percent of the nation’s overall population. The issue is particularly egregious in the capital of Lagos, where 70 percent reside in “informal settlements.”
- Force eviction exacerbates the homelessness problem. This happens by the threat of violence, in the hopes of making Lagos an international business center. Around 1 million people had to leave their homes in the last 15 years alone…….
